Day 93

On est sortis !!! Fin officielle de la sierra. La fin officieuse pour les hikers est une centaine de kilometres plus loin, la ou je me suis arrete en 2020. On commence a envisager la possibilite de ne plus devoir marcher et camper sur la neige, meme si ca risque de prendre encore deux semaines. Aujourd'hui on a eu le droit a des traverses horribles ou on s'enfoncait a chaque pas et avec des sun cups geantes. Mais on a aussi eu le droit a des passages plats sans neiges ou l'on avait l'impression de s'envoler apres avoir ete ralenti pendant plus d'un mois par la neige. On a aussi pris un raccourcis de deux miles, normalement c'est beaucoup trop pentu pour passer par la mais avec la neige on s'est juste assis et on a glisse en bas. Par contre ca a ete une glissade completement incontrolee, extremement rapide et ou cette fois je me suis litteralement envolee a cause d'une bosse dans la neige. Mais rien de casse donc c'etait plutot marrant. Maitenant on passe une nuit dans un complexe au milieu des bois, envahi de touristes americains pour le weekend du 4juillet, qui a l'air d'etre le paradis des cowboys. On ravitaille demain matin puis on repart dans l'apres midi pour dormir sur le trail et se mettre en route vers la fin officieuse de la sierra !

We're out !!! Official end of the sierra. The real end for the hikers is a hundred km further, where i stopped in 2020. But we're now imagining the possibility of not hiking and camping everyday on the snow, even though it will reallistically take us two more weeks to do that. Today wehad horribles traverses where the snow was so soft that we kept sliding and postholing, we also had giant sun cups. But on the bright side we had some flat snow free parts where we were feeling like flying after having been slowed down for a month by the snow. We also took a shortcut of 2miles, normally it's way too steep to go there but with the snow we just sat down and glissaded our way down. It was a completely uncontrolled glissade, going way too fast and this time i was litteraly flying because of a lump in the snow. But nothing broken so it was fun. We're spending the night in a resort in the middle of the woods, overcrowded with american tourists because it's the weekend of the 4th of july, which looks like it's the paradise of cowboys. We'll resupply tomorrow morning then back on trail in the afternoon and start going towards the unofficial end of the sierra !
